Stamford Public Schools (STAMFORD, CT) – Awarded Higher Education Alignment Grant To Fund Naviance Succeed.
Susan Rigano, Executive Director, Stamford Public Education Foundation, went from a parent using Naviance to a district advocate for the solution.
“The District and the business community are deeply concerned with preparing high school students for college admission and success. WWE Stars Warn Students About Bullying
Stamford- Celebrities from WWE talked to Turn of River Middle School students Tuesday about positive tools to help prevent bullying in their school.
"This is a very important thing to me, especially personally. I was bullied when I was in school, and even my nephew was bullied earlier this year." said David Otunga, a two-time WWE tag-team champion. "So I know how tough it is on kids to try to succeed in school and you're getting picked on every day." READ MORE
Residents Get Say in Superintendent Search
Stamford- The city's school board and the Stamford Public Education Foundation will host a series of community forums and focus groups to gauge the public's opinion on desired characteristics of the next superintendent of schools.
Many of the focus groups will be small, with a cap of about 20 people, according to Sue Rigano, executive director of SPEF. Those groups will be open to district personnel, elected officials, members of the clergy, senior citizens, business leaders and other community leaders she said. READ MORE

RBS Employees Clean Up at Stillmeadow School
Stamford- Dozons of volunteers from RBS reported for duty at Stillmeadow Elementary School Tuesday morning, wielding rakes, hedge clippers and wheel barrows to help prepare the school for its opening next week.
About 60 employees from RBS's global banking and markets division arrived at the school at 10 a.m. to clean up the school's property during the daylong project, sponsored by the Stamford Public Education Foundation. READ MORE
Malloy, Fedele Honored for Education in Stamford
Stamford- More than 200 people mixed and mingled at the Palace Theatre Monday night, where the Stamford Public Education Foundation honored Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and former Lt. Gov. Michael Fedele.

School Budget Option Sought
Stamford- Residents will be able to chime in on budgetary concerns before interim Superintendent Winifred Hamilton presents her proposed budget to the Board of Education in mid-January, the board's Fiscal Committee chair announced Tuesday.
Jerry Pia, head of the fiscal panel, said he plans to form a Citizen's Budget Advisory Committee in the coming week and a half, tapping community members from various realms to have input on the budget between November and early January. READ MORE
